BHOS

Baku Higher Oil School

Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) is a leading higher education institution in Azerbaijan in the field of engineering with a mission of train highly qualified specialists in various energy sectors, including petroleum, chemical and automation engineering, to develop a new generation of engineers having an excellence in selected areas of engineering, technology and design. BHOS offers education and training within four currently available specialization programmes in bachelor level: Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Information Security and Process Automation Engineering. In master’s level the programmes include Oil and Gas Technology, Reservoir Evaluation and Management, Process Automation Engineering and Master of Business Administration. BHOS strives to incorporate international dimension into its academic and research community.
BHOS has close cooperation with national and transnational companies operating in Azerbaijan, such as SOCAR, BP, ABB, Halliburton, Schlumberger, Statoil, Baker Hughes, Maire Tecnimont, Total, Microsoft, Emerson Process Management, Schneider Electric, HUAWEI to name but a few. The cooperation areas include industrial experience and internships for
BHOS students, cooperation of research and social and scientific projects.
Chemical Engineering: Chemical Engineering Department of Baku Higher Oil School was established in 2013. Students of this department are prepared on the speciality "Chemical Engineering" according to the Bachelor program in collaboration with Heriot-Watt University (Scotland, UK). The programme mainly focuses on the areas of process engineering, process design, unit distillation and separation processes, process modelling and control, energy generation and utilization, materials chemistry sustainability, chemical thermodynamics and kinetics, multiphase thermodynamics, health and safety buy also including chemical engineering design projects. The department cooperates with various chemical and process engineering plants of SOCAR in the view of conduction of industrial practical experiences to students.
Oil & Gas Technology Master:
This programme has been designed with the help of the industry to provide a cross over between surface and sub-surface engineering functions with the intent that future oil and gas operations can be better optimised to enhance recovery of the reserves. In order to maximise recovery, surface engineers in an operating company must communicate effectively with the reservoir and production engineers within their own company as well as develop relationships with and assess the work of contractors and vendors when designing and constructing facilities. Therefore, surface engineers need to be competent not only in the areas of process design, pipeline engineering, but also be familiar with reservoir engineering, production technology and a variety of other engineering and management subjects, such as safety and control, management of projects, economics and planning, etc. The programme offers courses in process, mechanical and petroleum engineering. It is suitable for those with a background in chemical and process engineering, mechanical engineering and related engineering disciplines. Taught courses cover topics in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, pipeline engineering, materials, corrosion, process engineering, reservoir engineering, economics and petroleum production technology.
